Health:
Today, under the department of Indian Systems of Medicine there
are 38 dispensaries, 5 Hospitals along with 6 Grant-in-aid Vaidya
Salas in the district of Pathanamthitta..
The department also runs temporary dispensaries at Sannidhanam,
Pampa and Erumely during the ' Sabarimala Pilgrim Season' twice
a year.
At
Sabarimala the Department owns a spacious building with treatment
facilities for catering to the needs of the poor.
Panchakarma treatment facilities are available
in all the hospitals under the Indian System of Medicine. Marma
chikilsa is available at the District Ayurveda Hospital, Ayiroor,
where 20% of the total cases are being treated both as O.P and I.P.
Visha chikilsa( anti poison treatments) are available at both the
Government Ayurveda Hospitals at Kadampanad and Thiruvalla. On an
average 60 cases are reported under this category and are given
treatments in the various government hospitals and dispensaries.
A
rare herbal garden is being maintained and an expansion plan for
herb cultivation project is underway. On an average 60 to 200 avail
of the facilities at the ayurved hospital.

Roads:
Roads
division, Pathanamthitta was formed at the same time as the district
formation. Formerly the roads division was under the jurisdiction
of the then B&R divisions of Kollam and Alappuzha districts.The
roads division deals with the construction and maintenance of various
PWD roads and bridges in Pathanamthitta revenue district.The total
length of PWD roads under various categories, such as State High
way and Major district roads comes to 1380 Kms .
