Pathanamthitta
is nourished by three west flowing rivers -Pamba, Manimala , and
Achankovil. It abounds with natural splendours - undulating hills,

CHANDANAKUDAM
FESTIVAL

Muslims
form the majority in Pathanamthitta town. There is a beautiful
Mosque in the heart of the town and the annual Chandanakudam
festival here is important .
The
Pathanamthitta mosque is located in pathanamthitta town itself.
The feast of this mosque known as 'Chandanakudam' is celebrated
every year on the 2 nd week of February (Makaram28th)
every year and it attracts thousands of devotees.
A colourful procession with caparisoned elephants lends colour
and festivity to the occasion.
The Chandanakudam festival of Kattoor Mosque in Cherukole
panchayath and Kalamala Mosque near Adoor are also famous. |
